Wings of Desire
Wim Wenders' wonderful ode to freedom is as emotionally powerful and intellectually stimulating as ever. Bruno Ganz stars as an angel who, while keeping watch over the various denizens of Berlin, falls in love with an unhappy trapese artist (the lovely Solveig Dommartin) and wishes to become mortal. Enhanced by stunning cinematography and gorgeous camera movement, Wings of Desire remains one of the best films of the 1980s.
