Run Lola Run
By far the most exciting and innovative film of 1999, Tom Tykwer's (Wintersleepers) exuberant-beyond-belief film gives its eponymous heroine (the puce-haired, brilliant Franka Potente, whose hair colour set off a fashion frenzy in Germany) less than half-an-hour to come up with a large sum of cash to save her boyfriend's skin... A jaw-dropping delight throughout.
