A Summer in La Goulette
A sunny and sensual look back at a pre-Six Day War Tunisian resort town, Ferid Boughedir's latest chronicles the comings-of-age of three adolescent girls in a neighbourhood where Muslims, Christians and Jews live side by side. Lush cinematography, a cameo from Claudia Cardinale as herself and Boughedir's comic humanism make it a fine picture.(Tunisia, 1996, subtitles, 100 min.)
