Our story so far...

Andre has no idea what he did wrong.

Perhaps he was just too hard working, too friendly, too successful! In any case, CUPE's Chrismas present to this elflike fellow was one month's notice to get out of town. And with no guarantee of a job in the new year, Andre and his sweetheart had to cancel their Christmas vacation.

Glenna

Glenna was hired by Andre when business became too brisk. She is a mild mannered and genuine person, who was a foster parent for problem children before taking some time off to be a tubesteaker. Her plan was to earn some money in the spring and summer to spend on university classes in the fall.

(CUPE: Meet those whose jobs you would destroy)

Why do students line up in the rain to buy food from Andre and Glenna when similar fare is on offer in the campus cafeteria for cheaper? Well besides the fact that these two tubesteakers offer a major taste advantage, and friendly service, there is the slight problem of what unionization does to efficiency. To find out what we mean, make a trip to the SUB cafeteria.

Jan 31, 1996.

Today was the last day for the happy tubesteakers. Hotdogs were given away by donation with proceeds going to the Children's Hospital, as a thank-you to UBC students for their support through the fall and winter. We are sad to see you go, guys.
