The CBC Tubesteak Poll

CBC radio Early Edition began coverage of the Tubular Tempest on Wednesday. Their coverage was quite positive, and they announced a phone number for your comments to be left on an answering machine... 662-6976.

Included were the results of the informal email CBC Tubesteak Poll:

By a whopping 15 to 1 Vancouver came out in support of the tubesteakers! .

A highlight of the show, in our minds, was the reading of a letter from David Shapiro, a CUPE vice-president, stating his beliefs that:

  • there's room for everyone
  • no CUPE jobs would be lost
  • CUPE should be flexible or lose politically.

    No doubt this took some courage to write, and we commend his effort.
